Thanks for the interesting article. As 30 year subscriber to the paper NYT who just terminated home delivery, I've been debating whether to spend $169 for the Times Reader (a $400+ savings over the paper edition) or just continue with the free online edition. (You're right about the facsimile version). I just wish the Reader provided more for the subscription fee than the free online version.

I wonder how close the Reader version is to the 30% figure you mentioned. And does the Times make more money from someone reading the heavily advertised free online version versus subscription fee from the (ad-free) Reader?
